Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Anxiety Specialist

Psychotherapy can be used to ease people through stressful life transitions, a sense of feeling stuck, as well as more significant mental health issues. Through my nonjudgmental but straightforward and active approach, I help my clients enhance their self-awareness and develop important skill sets to navigate difficult circumstances.

For individuals with obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders, specialized treatments are indicated that are not available from all therapists. I have specialized training in evidence-based treatments that have been proven to help many individuals continue to live in recovery and improve their quality of life. My expertise in these approaches has been certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). I flexibly apply the principles of these treatments to my clients’ goals, needs, and challenges.

Research

I have an appointment as a staff psychologist at McLean Hospital’s OCD Institute. I maintain a program of research that aims to increase our understanding of obsessive-compulsive disorder and its treatment. Much of my research is specifically focused on the intersections of sleep, circadian rhythms, and anxiety. My research has been funded by the International OCD Foundation, McLean Hospital, and individual philanthropy.

This connection to academic research is an important part of my professional identity and contributes to the knowledge I can share with my clients and making sure they get the most up-to-date treatments.

Training

I have an appointment as an instructor of Psychology in the department of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. I am a passionate teacher and continue to train and supervise trainees at McLean Hospital. I view this as another important part of my professional identity and something that is critical to my continued growth in my own clinical work.

I believe that therapy and teaching are both processes of discovery. In my work with students and clients, I always aim to “walk alongside” and be a collaborator that allows others to have more direction and agency in their lives; not an expert who has a certain destination or path that I “push along” for its own sake.

Supervision and Consultation Services

I am available for individualized or group consultation and supervision as it relates to OCD-specialized and sleep disturbance-related treatment.
